Vodafone celebrates Environment Day with Paint Your Planet Competition

Vodafone Essar, one of India’s leading cellular service providers, in association with Times of India, today successfully concluded “Paint Your Planet”- a painting competition hosted on the occasion of World Environment Day. The event was focused on spreading awareness about protection of our environment.

Children within the age group of 4 -18 years participated in the painting competition held at Shrimanta Shankardeva, Kalashetra on June 5, 2010. The participants through their paintings depicted the most challenging environmental issues and created awareness about the depleting resources of the world. Through their creations, they also conveyed strong messages about the steps each one can take towards building a cleaner and greener environment.
Mr. Anand Sahai, Senior Vice President, Assam & North East said, “It is our endeavour to promote awareness about greater environmental sustainability and “Paint Your Planet” is a platform through which we address serious issues in the most creative way. We received an overwhelming response of over 2,000 entries from all across Guwahati rendering this event a success and inspiring us to remain committed to the cause.”
As a step towards a better environment Vodafone has also introduced electronically generated bills for online payment and transaction thereby saving paper.
