Uninor GSM service goes truly mobile

Uninor ramps up its retailing & brand building initiative in semi- urban & rural markets of eastern UP by flagging off 16 cars at the Uninor Lucknow hub here on Thursday. The retail mobile initiative was adopted with the vision of assisting Uninor to reach out to its customers in even the remotest corners of UP East.
With the mobile handset population poised to top 500 million in India by 2010, it has become a huge and vibrant communication platform, which no telecom marketer can afford to ignore. |
Uninor is oriented to tap the potential in rural UP as major segment of the telecom market is driven by these users, so it gets indispensable to reach out to the touchpoints. The rising demand in the Indian mobile phone industry is another reason to experiment with the retail mobile brigade for telecom market in UP east. With low-cost cellular services, a large number of rural customers are able to afford cell phones and Uninor attempts to capture more market share though innovation.
Following the ceremonial flag off at Uninor office, HT House in Lucknow, the mobile brigade assembled around 1:29 pm on Thursday, 4th March, 2010. The participants were flagged off from Uninor Lucknow Hub by Mr. Frode Haugen, EVP, UP East Hub. “We firmly believe that there lies a huge potential in terms of mobile services penetration in the rural areas and it is important to reach out to them. These Scorpios will reach out to these areas and spread awareness about our brand and services”, he said.
The event was also meant to provide fun & frolic to the car enthusiasts & spectators as well. A fleet of 16 Scorpio Cars adorned with colorful graphics driving on the streets of Lucknow was a spectacle to watch out for.
