Samsung Launches its Smartphone duo – Galaxy 3 & Galaxy 5 in the Indian market

Powered by AndroidÔ v2.1, both Samsung Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 strengthen Samsung’s Smartphone portfolio. Samsung’s Smartphone portfolio now priced between Rs 10,300/- ~Rs 31,500/-
Leading mobile phone provider, Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of its “Affordable Smartphone” duo – Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 in the Indian market. The launch of these two Smart phones closely follows the recent introduction of the Company’s iconic, next generation, ‘Future Beyond Smart Phones’, Samsung Wave and Galaxy S – in the Indian market. Both Samsung Galaxy 3 and Galaxy 5 are based on the AndroidÔplatform and offer an intuitive, immersive and integrative experience for consumers.
Announcing the launch Mr. Ranjit Yadav, Director, Mobile & IT, Samsung Electronics said: “The Smartphone era has begun and is here to stay. We, at Samsung, are committed to making Smart phones available for everyone. We have been focusing on Open OS mobiles recently since many key characteristics of smart phones are becoming more and more relevant - especially mobile internet, messaging features, strong 3rd party applications and flexibility for customization. In the open OS area, our strategy is to offer consumers with whatever they want. As a result we are offering mobiles based on the Android, Windows and our own proprietary OS bada in the Indian market.” Thus , while Samsung WAVE is based on the bada platform , the Galaxy S is based on the Android platform.

Samsung Galaxy 3 ( I5801)
The Samsung Galaxy 3 is endowed with Preinstalled ThinkFree Office Mobile which lets the user create, view and edit word documents, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. With the File Manager in ThinkFree Office feature consumers can organize the documents with ease. The mobile is also compatible with all movie files with multi codec support and plays DivX, Xvid, MPEG4, Real and WMV movie files. Users can also enjoy music with a simplified music list and player.
With a 3.2” WQVGA 16M TFT hi –resolution screen, the Galaxy 3 has a youthful design has a 3MP auto focus camera and a wi-fi connectivity speed of upto 74mbps. The phone comes with a 1500 mAH battery and an internal memory of 130MB which is further expandable to 32GB. Users can also download applications from Samsung Apps store. Samsung Galaxy 5 ( I5503)
Powered by the Android platform, the Smartphone experience in Samsung Galaxy 5 is further enhanced by the 2.8”QVGA TFT screen and a 2MP fixed focus camera. The handset offers excellent connectivity options through Bluetooth 2.1 to connect to other device and mobile peripherals helping easy file transfers and data downloads. The phone also has wifi connectivity, 3G HSDPA with speeds up to 7.2 mbps, 3.5 mm Ear jack, FM radio and A-GPS. The 90 MB internal of the phone memory is further upgradeable to 16GB. With product innovation being a key thrust area of the Company , Samsung today also announced the launch of Samsung Guru Power with a Long Battery Life of 2,000mAh providing a whopping 22 hours Talk Time and 2 months standby time , priced at Rs. 3150/- and Samsung Champ , an affordable touch phone that builds in the feature functionality of a Music player , priced at Rs 4500/-.
