Asia Pacific service provider switching and routing equipment sales grew 38% compared with 3Q07

For immediate release, November 14, 2008. Ovum today posted its analysis of Asia Pacific third quarter 2008 service provider switching and routing equipment sales. Sales in 3Q08 grew to $1.0 billion overall, a 38% increase compared to 3Q07 and a 2% increase sequentially.

3Q08 AP highlights for technology-focused market segments:

· IP/MPLS core = $200 million, up 39% versus 3Q07

· IP/MPLS edge = $554 million, up 62% versus 3Q07

· IP/Ethernet = $269 million, up 13% versus 3Q07

· ATM = $21 million, down 36% versus 3Q07

3Q08 AP highlights for application-focused market segments:

· IP transport and services = $563 million, up 56% versus 3Q07

· Ethernet transport and services = $427 million, up 28% versus 3Q07

· BRAS = $70 million, up 27% versus 3Q07

3Q08 AP market share positions (rolling 4Q):

· IP/MPLS total: Cisco (42%), Huawei (18%), Juniper (16%)

· IP/MPLS core: Cisco (54%), Juniper (27%), Huawei (18%)

· IP/MPLS edge: Cisco (37%), Huawei (18%)

· IP transport and services: Cisco (36%), Huawei (23%), Juniper (18%)

· Ethernet transport and services: Cisco (39%), Huawei (15%)

· BRAS: Redback (31%), Huawei (28%), Juniper (21%), Cisco (21%)
