Nokia Siemens Networks provides TeliaSonera with advanced radio networks for mobile broadband

Modernizes GSM/3G, rolls out commercial 4G/LTE radio networks for TeliaSonera in Denmark

TeliaSonera was the first operator in the world to commercially launch 4G, and offer 4G services in Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Nokia Siemens Networks builds TeliaSonera’s radio network in Denmark and part of its Swedish 4G radio network including the network in Gothenburg.

Nokia Siemens Networks also supported TeliaSonera’s initial 4G/LTE launches in Finland and Estonia during 2010.

“TeliaSonera’s rollout of LTE has been a huge success, generating great interest globally. We are excited to continue our partnership in LTE with the subsequent launches,” said Jan Lindgren, head of the TeliaSonera customer team at Nokia Siemens Networks. “Building on our market leadership in LTE technology and our fast network rollout capabilities, we have worked together to ensure continued technology leadership for TeliaSonera.”

In Denmark, the LTE launch is the first step in the ongoing full network modernization with Nokia Siemens Networks. As part of the contract with Telia Denmark, Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide its GSM and 3G technology as well as LTE radio equipment. With this network modernization, Telia Denmark will cover 75 percent of the Danish population with 4G service, 98 percent with 3G and 99 percent with GSM service by the end of 2011, using the Nokia Siemens Networks Flexi Multiradio Base Station, capable of providing several radio access technologies simultaneously from the same platform.

In order to ensure efficient operations, Nokia Siemens Networks has also provided its NetAct network management system to enable consolidated configuration, monitoring and optimization of the network.
