Nokia Siemens Networks launches Compact Unified Charging and Billing

Mobile World Congress 2011, Barcelona, Spain, 13 February, 2011

  • Charging convergence helps operators find fast, efficient route to service differentiation
  • Significantly reduces implementation effort and time to launch new services
  • Enables differentiation through prepaid, postpaid and hybrid payment services
  • Benefits of Compact UCB showcased at the Mobile World Congress 2011

Nokia Siemens Networks has launched a Compact Unified Charging and Billing (Compact UCB) platform to integrate the functionalities of charging, billing, customer relationship management (CRM) and order management systems into one end-to-end convergent solution. This convergent solution is optimized for easy and rapid deployment and speeds up new service launches.

With this solution, operators will be able to unify their prepaid and postpaid offerings, create innovative, new multi-service packages, and ensure a more compelling customer experience, independent of their size or budgetary constraints.

“There’s a huge demand for convergent charging and billing solutions, as operators strive to capitalize on the rapid growth in smartphone and data services, and look forward to provide innovative bundles of triple play and quad play services,” said Rick Centeno, head of charging, billing and care at Nokia Siemens Networks. “With our pre-configured compact solution, fast growing operators, greenfield operators, small players and Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNOs) can all benefit from a pre-integrated convergent charging and billing solution.”

“Our solution’s complete customer care, self-service capabilities, and efficient partner management enable operators to create a consolidated bill for the voice, video, data and content services provided to each subscriber. It’s easy to implement, and provides a low-cost entry into the convergence market, helping operators quickly gain market share and maintain profitability even in markets with low average revenue per user (ARPU),” added Centeno.

Nokia Siemens Networks’ Compact UCB features its market-leading charge@once unified charging engine, pre-packaged with CRM, invoicing and order management from one of its strategic partners, Cerillion. Compact UCB allows operators to create and maintain all services and tariffs in one central place. It enables market differentiation through hybrid accounts (prepaid and postpaid for the same subscriber), service-independent payment methods, and allows consolidated charging and billing for a variety of voice and data services provided as bundles to subscribers. The single view of all subscriber data with pre-defined market offering modules enables faster and more targeted campaigns, and helps operators deliver a superior customer experience.

Compact UCB is scalable, and enables an operator to start small, and grow as business needs dictate. It is based on Nokia Siemens Networks’ market leading charge@once unified suite, which offers modularity and full flexibility in terms of integration and scalability. The charge@once unified suite is addressing the need by operators to deal with the mobile data explosion as well as tariff and service complexity. In addition, it supports wholesale business models for special market segments such as energy or transportation sector and data services dependent on the quality of service (QoS). To help reduce the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for operators, the new Wizard and Expert Modes enable easier and faster creation of new campaigns and flexibility in customization of tariffs and offerings. Reduction of TCO is further enabled by Linux support and significant floor space savings, which is achieved by using a more efficient hardware that can replace several ordinary hardware servers.

Nokia Siemens Networks is the global leader in convergent charging and billing with the company’s charging and billing solution supporting over 300 operators with more than 550 million subscribers globally.

At the Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona, Nokia Siemens Networks will showcase the benefits of its Compact UCB as part of its Customer Experience Management solution. Customers, press and analysts are welcome to see the showcase at Nokia Siemens Networks’ Experience Center in Hall 8, C01 of the 2011 Mobile World Congress, 14-17 February, Fira de Barcelona, Barcelona, Spain.
