The global number of IPTV subscribers is expected to grow rapidly; from 40 million users at the end of 20101 to more than 111 million in 2014, representing a compound annual growth rate of 26%2.

Without any doubt, the deployment of reliable broadband access infrastructures is a key catalyst for this projected growth.
Based on a comprehensive database – which currently includes 875 IPTV service providers in all four regions – analyst firm Multimedia Research Group points out in the latest edition of its IPTV Market Leaders Report (December 2010) that almost half of the IPTV subscribers around the world are offered services over broadband access gear provided by Alcatel-Lucent.
According to MRG, Alcatel-Lucent has been leading the IPTV Access segment since Spring 2007. The report shows Alcatel-Lucent has delivered broadband access equipment to 10 of the top-25 IPTV service providers around the world – thereby building on its portfolio of Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM) IP access products and its comprehensive suite of multimedia integration services. The ISAM family supports access technologies as diverse as xDSL, VDSL2, GPON and point-to-point fiber.
Alcatel-Lucent offers an entire IPTV solution that includes access, market-leading middleware and unmatched multimedia integration services.
José Alvear, IPTV Analyst, Multimedia ResearchGroup (MRG), “Since the publication of our previous Market Leaders Report in April 2010, Alcatel-Lucent has continued its considerable growth in Europe, North America and Rest of World. Thanks to its significant market share, and relationships with key service providers, we
expect Alcatel-Lucent to continue to be a leader in the IPTV Access segment well into the future.”
Dave Geary, Head of Alcatel-Lucent’s Wireline activities, “This report presents IPTV service providers around the world with impartial evidence that Alcatel-Lucent is the ideal partner to help them prepare their access networks for the delivery of IPTV and next-generation multimedia services – based on our unmatched experience and expertise in this space, and the strength and flexibility of our ISAM IP access platform.”
