Groupwide Contract for Mobile Gateway 6 with Tier One Operator targeting Latin America

Royal Tunbridge Wells, 09 June, 2011

Synchronica plc (AIM: SYNC, TSX-V: SYN), the international provider of next-generation mobile messaging solutions, has signed a significant expansion order with a tier one mobile operator group targeting Latin America.

The groupwide contract covers the deployment of Synchronica Mobile Gateway 6 across all its Latin American subsidiaries.

This is the second tier one operator expanding a groupwide agreement and further strengthens Synchronica's presence in the rapidly growing mobile market in Latin America. With the expansion order, the monthly fees have been doubled, reflecting the value of the additional services provided by Synchronica.

The expanded agreement provides the multinational operator group with a stronger value-added services (VAS) portfolio and significantly increases the recurring revenue Synchronica will receive per active user per month. This expansion order demonstrates Synchronica's success in building additional revenue streams from customers gained during the acquisition of Colibria's instant messaging (IM) business in 2010.

Mobile Email and IM to Reach USD 1.1 Billion in Latin America

In aggregate, Synchronica's contracts with operators in the region cover more than nine out of every ten mobile users in Mexico and Argentina and five out of every ten mobile users in Brazil. According to data from Informa Telecoms & Media, mobile email and IM services are becoming increasing popular in Latin America, with revenues projected to reach USD 1.1 billion by 2015.

Introduced in February 2011, Mobile Gateway 6 introduces pre-RCS unified messaging capabilities with a presence-enabled address book, an ultra-lightweight J2ME client, support for XHTML browsers, and advanced document transcoding capabilities.

Mobile Gateway 6 supports literally any mobile phone in use today, providing push email, synchronization, instant messaging, and social networking even on low-end devices. It will enable the group's consumer, prosumer, and business subscribers to enjoy advanced messaging without needing to upgrade or replace their existing mobile handsets.

Carsten Brinkschulte, CEO of Synchronica, comments: "This is the second contract expansion signed with a multinational operator group in Latin America. It demonstrates Synchronica's ability to provide additional services to customers gained via the acquisition of Colbria's IM business in 2010 and increase the revenue generated from these contracts."

"We are confident that the addition of push email and synchronization to the operator group's messaging portfolio will enrich the product offering, and we look forward to a successful rollout", the CEO adds.
