Comviva partners with airtel bangladesh for its Messaging Solutions Portfolio

New Delhi, 10 January, 2011

Comviva, the global leader in providing mobile solutions beyond VAS today announced that it has entered into a strategic partnership with airtel bangladesh ltd. to provide messaging solutions under its
Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Short Message Service Center (SMSC) and BMG (Bulk Messaging Gateway) portfolio.

Comviva’s USSD FLARES (Framework to Launch Applications and Rapidly Evolve Services) will drastically reduce overall cost around airtel bangladesh’s operator portal. The solution will also provide airtel bangladesh with a single-window web-based environment to access, create, execute and manage services. With the deployment of SMSC portfolio, airtel bangladesh will witness a sharp increase in usage of SMSs over its network. The solution will optimally deliver messages with minimal latency during periods of intense continuous traffic. Rich SMS features such as SMS Upload, SMS Storage, SMS Forward, SMS Copy, Auto Reply, Email notification, SMS Signature and Web Portal will facilitate airtel bangladesh to offer unique and innovative services to its subscribers.

Comviva has also deployed its Bulk Messaging Gateway (BMG) solution, a high capacity SMS platform that delivers cross-carrier messaging for enterprise customers. The BMG solution will create a new revenue opportunity for airtel and will enable promotions and corporate messaging helping the operator deliver a better message management over SMS.

“At airtel bangladesh, we are determined to provide best-in-class services and to continuously provide the best communication solutions to our businesses and individual customers. With SMS traffic enjoying continued strong growth, we needed a proven solution to manage the increased load without making major investment. We selected Comviva’s messaging solutions to efficiently route traffic over our existing network infrastructure and deliver an improved level of service to our customers creating greater satisfaction and long-term loyalty,” said Chris Tobit, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, airtel bangladesh ltd.

Manoranjan Mohapatra, CEO, Comviva, said “We are very pleased to partner with airtel bangladesh for our messaging solutions. With 5 billion mobile users globally able to access self-care services and content, there is great scope to extend the range of content and applications available via USSD and SMS to drive value added service usage. Having achieved success with deployments of messaging solutions across the globe, we are confident of adding value to airtel’s services in the region”.

“Comviva is working with all the leading mobile operators in Bangladesh to provide them with end-to-end mobile solutions beyond VAS. We see our messaging solution supporting airtel as they extend their service to newer segments across the country. Our messaging platform will ensure efficient delivery of text messages and rich, compelling information and entertainment to their subscribers”, he further added.

Comviva’s messaging applications enable subscribers to interact with friends and discover new applications, driving service usage and enhancing revenue growth.
