BlacMail is open to Legal Intercepts
Bangalore, 05 August, 2010
Mobile Application and Technology firm Fifth C, which recently launched BlacMail, a push email similar to the Blackberry service said on Monday that it is open to Legal Intercepts. This means government can decrypt the information exchanged within the BlacMail server by the means of specialized software.
Fifth C was quoted saying this to a National newspaper. This comes at the time when RIM, manufacturers of Blackberry and Nokia Messaging are facing threats of ban unless they confirm to the DoT regulations of giving the government an access to their servers. On being asked about privacy of the user information inside their server, Mr. K. Krishnamohan, Founder and CEO, Fifth C Solutions, said, “ BlacMail service abides by the Government's ‘Lawful Intercept' mandate. While our software is encrypted, legitimate sources can decrypt it using specialised security software. Our servers are also in India (hosted in Bangalore).”
Fifth C Solutions has recently launched their server based push email service BlacMail. It “pushes” mails (from a maximum of two email IDs) to the user's phone as soon as they land in the user's e-mail inbox. The experience is similar to the BlackBerry service. BlacMail works even on basic Java phones and does not require GPRS connectivity.
Talking about the formal launch of the application, Mr. Krishnamohan said “BlacMail will soon be available through leading operators and manufacturers across the country”. The Company has already tied up with BSNL to provide push email to Karnataka subscribers.
